New York, NY - The New Jersey Devils (12-29-3) continue to play impressive hockey, but fell to the Florida Panthers (21-20-2) in overtime by the score of 3-2 on Saturday night.
The Devils would jump to a lead, striking for their first goal at the 5:01 mark when Nick Palmieri (2) tallied a wrist shot for the 1-0 lead. Florida struck back for their first goal at the 15:07 mark when Evgeny Dadonov (4) wristed home a power play shot to make the score 1-1.
The Panthers would pounce for their second goal of the game in the second period, when Dennis Wideman (5) struck on the power play at the 2:15 mark for the 2-1 lead. New Jersey would tie the game up in the third period of play as David Clarkson (8) would tip-home the second Devils goal at the 8:47 mark.
Florida would find the game-winning goal in the overtime frame when Dmitry Kalikow (4) would connect on a snap shot at the 3:36 mark for the 3-2 Panthers victory.
Devils keeper Martin Brodeur would finish the night with 19 saves, while former Devils backup Scott Clemmensen finished the night with 33 saves in the victory for Florida.
New Jersey will conclude this road trip with a visit to Metropolitan Area rival and Eastern Conference Rival, the New York Islanders. The two teams will have a rare 1:00 p.m. face-off on Monday afternoon.
